The Abomination (Caramel Apple Brown Betty)
Ingredients
Instructions

1)

Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease baking dish.

2)

Core and slice or chunk apples and place in a large bowl with water and lemon juice.

3)

Mix sugar and spices in small bowl.

4)

Layer bottom of dish with Panko bread crumbs.

5)

Layer with some apple slices.

6)

Sprinkle with sugar mixture and chopped bread.

7)

Repeat layers until all apples are used.

8)

Top with remaining Panko bread crumbs and sprinkle with sugar mixture.

9)

Cut butter into small pieces and dot over the top.

10)

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

11)

Remove foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until top is golden brown.

12)

Add modified caramel sauce (see Caramel Sauce recipe notes) on top and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

13)

Serve warm.
